The Maritime Safety Victoria’s Boating Safety Action Plan 2015-18 has been developed in partnership with Victoria Police and has been informed by incident data and research into recreational boating across Victoria.
The Action Plan seeks to achieve safer recreational boating outcomes in six key areas:
· wearing a lifejacket
· paddle craft
· fit for purpose vessels
· cold water immersion
· coastal and offshore waterways.
The Action Plan will inform and shape Maritime Safety Victoria’s compliance and education activities over the next few years. Additionally, it identifies a number of actions that boaters can implement in order to contribute to safer outcomes.
